Riding on the waves of cloud computing, IoT, and big data, inwinSTACK offers a portfolio of IT solutions based on OpenStack, Kubernetes and Ceph, the most popular private cloud platform, container engine and software defined storage available in today’s IT system deployment. Our services are dedicated to meet the ever changing IT demands of enterprise customers, including data computing, analytics, management, monitoring, storage, and integration. Through providing a highly stable, secure, and efficient cloud environment, we help enterprises achieve business agility and stay competitive.
Containerized Cloud+Edge Platform
With the ongoing rise of IoT (Internet of Things) , AI, and AR/VR applications, the biggest names in global IT enterprises have come to take part in this hot trend by developing their own versions of platforms that integrate various things and devices with cloud computing and analytics applications. inwinSTACK’s Cloud+Edge solution employs Kubernetes and OpenStack as underlying cloud architecture, and more importantly, the Edge server /Intelligent gateway which incorporates fog computing technology providing real-time data analytics, filtering, and encryption at gateway level to reduce data loading on cloud side. This reduces overall data processing time and networking cost, leading to a relatively more powerful and efficient IoT/AI/AR/VR solution.
To ensure High availability and provide load balancing functions for Edge server/Intelligent gateway, multiple servers (clustering) are deployed, while being provisioned and managed by Kubernetes master controller.
An open source cloud established in 2010, OpenStack is now the most popular and fastest growing open source project in the world. It is focused to provide enterprise customers automated Iaas infrastructure that converges computing, storage, and networking. OpenStack encompasses the characteristics of easy-to-scale (expand), easy-to-operate, and easy-to-manage, which not only reduces the complexity and cost of IT implementation, but also eliminates vendor lock-ins with proprietary providers. OpenStack is currently deployed by some of world’s most renowned enterprises including AT&T, ERICSSON, Cisco, NASA, Walmart and Yahoo.
The core components of OpenStack are Compute (Nova)、Network (Neutron)、Identity (Keystone)、Image (Glance)、Block Storage (Cinder) and Object Storage (Swift). Other management services include Telemetry (Ceilometer) and Orchestration (Heat). Container services are provided through Kubernetes that deploys and manages containerized applications.
Ceph is a software-defined, next generation storage system that provides distributed data storage in multiple nodes under one unified platform. It could be constructed on a standard commodity server instead of proprietary high-cost hardware. With elegant features such as PB-level scalability, high availability and reliability, Ceph has earned its position as a most desirable storage solutions among today’s enterprises for confronting the exponential growth of data. Global enterprises among various industries have come to adopt Ceph, including Time Warner Cable, Bloomberg, Deutsche Telekom AG, and Flickr (Yahoo).
The fundamental layer of Ceph is built on a set of storage cluster named RADOS, which provides object, block, and file storage through a LIBRADOS API. The storage nodes can be scaled-out to hundreds and thousands to achieve PB or even EB-level of storage capacity.
OpenStack + Ceph Integration
The scale of existing IT infrastructures among most enterprises today are facing difficulties dealing with the era of gigantic data growth. A new generation of computing platform and storage solution is therefore necessary to maintain a company’s operational efficiency and competitiveness. The optimal solution is OpenStack integrated with Ceph, providing the utmost flexibility and scalability for the IT infrastructure of enterprise customers. Ceph is served as a backend storage for OpenStack via RBD protocol, and could also be connected to OpenStack’s Swift API via RadosGW to provide object storage service. The biggest reference architecture of Ceph is deployed by CERN,the European Organization for Nuclear Research. Until 2016, it has successfully deployed 5500 computing nodes.
OpenStack + Ceph Integration
Aside from deploying public or private clouds for their IT infrastructures, many enterprises have gradually gained interest in choosing containers for greater scale IT operations. Our container service relies on Kubernetes engine, which provides production-ready containers and deployment tools for operating OpenStack services with automated management function and Ceph as storage backend.
Big Data Platform
Aligning with cloud computing and IoT technologies, big data has become another dominant topic of the IT world in recent years. inwinSTACK uses OpenStack and its big data service component Sahara to deploy and integrate Hadoop or Spark clusters, along with Ceph for massive storage request, resulting in a complete solution for big data analytics, processing, storage, and management. Through OpenStack’s horizon dashboard, users are able to quickly build, operate, and manage a Hadoop cluster.
The S3 storage service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) has received worldwide recognition from global enterprises. For existing S3 customers, inwinSTACK recommends using Ceph as backend storage to fulfil their massive data storage demands. Clients can access S3 portal through RESTful API provided by RADOSGW of Ceph to provide object storage service, which also includes the basic functions of S3 such as create, index, and delete bucket, upload and download file or folder, create object shared link, data flow control, etc.
Hybrid cloud is a solution which encompasses both the benefits of a private and public cloud, giving enterprise users better flexibility and agility. inwinSTACK’s hybrid cloud solution correlates private cloud OpenStack with public clouds like AWS and Google Cloud Platform by deploying ManageIQ to uniformly manage these platforms. File sharing and synchronization between these clouds are also achieved through the S3 API provided by Ceph RADOSGW.
Through ownCloud file hosting services, users are able to experience functionalities similar to that provided by Dropbox, but in a private secure way. Enterprises can place their agile data in their on-premise datacenters, and these files are stored and managed securely by integrating Ceph. inwinSTACK’s ownCloud package enables cross-platform operations which allows users to store their data via personal computers, tablet PCs, or mobile phones. Integration with other storage services (Google Drive, Dropbox etc.) are also made possible to apply better flexibility in storage options.
