The world’s first official OpenStack Application Hackathon was held from March 18th to 20th, 2016 in Taiwan. As one of the major proud sponsors, inwinSTACK was honored to provide cloud platform, technical consult, and venue (inwinSTACK’s office) for the event. More than 200 attendees and 50 teams have participated the contest, 40% of whom from enterprises and 40% of whom from colleges. Jonathan Bryce and Lauren Sell (the Executive Director and Vice President) and a few other major figures of the OpenStack Foundation also came all the way from the USA to Taiwan to encourage the participants and show love for this huge event.
The contest started on the evening of March 18th and lasted for two consecutive days. Winner of the contest was LIKA, a team composed of members from Taiwan’s ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute). The name of their project was called “Phantom of L.I.K.A”, which focused on a wearable sensor device capable of measuring muscle movement signals of a violinist. The Grand Prize awarded to LIKA is a trip to the 2016 OpenStack Summit from April 25th to 29th, 2016 in Austin, Texas USA to share their experience and result from the contest.
